The Ephemera Project
This may be a rather shameless plug, but I figured that I would get it over with as quickly as possible and never write about it again here.
I've started a bit of a side project. Here's my dorky synopsis:

I've started a bit of a side project. Here's my dorky synopsis:
The Ephemera Project's main intention is to explore the strange dynamics of social interaction through found objects. By deliberately planting anonymous, personal messages in open, public places, a submitter to the project establishes a peculiar connection with the person who later finds that message. The finder inadvertantly gets a random, brief glimpse through a window into the life of another person. Sometimes, that glimpse can be an amazing thing. The Ephemera Project provides a forum wherein the finder can respond to what he or she sees in that window.
Essentially,
- Somebody writes a message on a special form, including an arbitrary ID code and the date the message was written.
- That person then plants this message in a place for a random person to find later. The person also writes down the date the message was planted.
- The random person finds the message and (ideally) either replaces the message if he/she wants nothing to do with it, or sends a response to it at the e-mail address shown. The random person also includes the dates and ID code.
- I post all submissions that come to that e-mail address online for the original message writer to find.

Yes, I happen to be one of the chosen people of the world who knows what 'epehemera' means off of the top of his head. I congratulate myself for it, and scorn you for using such a word. This project IS significant and valuable, you dolt! (at least, it is in my suburbian, small-town, Capraesque mind.)
